Biographie
Daniel Bashta is a singer and songwriter of contemporary Christian music whose songs range from acoustic folk to rousing synth rock. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana to musical parents, his mother was a onetime pianist for the New Jersey Philharmonic and his father played guitar. Bashta began studying the violin at age three, moved on to the drums at eight, and taught himself guitar, bass, and piano in his teens, at the same time beginning to write his own songs. Based in the town of Reserve outside of New Orleans, he also traveled the world in his formative years as his parents did missionary work. Bashta emerged with his first recording, the EP My Worship in Motion, in 2007. After signing with Integrity Music, he incorporated some of those songs into his proper full-length debut, The Sounds of Daniel Bashta, released in 2011. It reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Heatseekers and Top Christian Albums charts. In 2012, Newsboys had a hit with his song "God's Not Dead (Like a Lion)," which was soon covered by multiple Christian acts. A year later, he released his own The Invisible, which hit the same charts as his debut. He moved to the Go Forth label for 2015's For Every Curse EP. It returned him to the Christian chart. In the meantime, he co-wrote songs for the likes of Bethel Music and Housefires. Recorded at Atlanta's RiverStone Church, where Bashta served as worship leader, My Resurrection (Live) arrived on Go Forth in 2017. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
