A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jemia is a worship artist whose sound is in line with Contemporary Christian and Gospel music genres. The daughter of a pastor, she was raised in church and started leading worship in high school. Her passion for music was apparent at an early age as she wrote her first song at the age of 12 years old. Having been raised in a multi-cultural church environment, her sound and writing style are reflective of this and appeal to diverse audiences of all different backgrounds. 
 
She started out recording professional music by singing background vocals for renowned worship leader Jonathan Stockstill and Bethany Church in Baton Rouge. From there she's been able to record with the likes of Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman. She has shared the stage singing backup vocals for CeCe Winans, William McDowell, Anthony Evans, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Building 429 and others. 
 
Her self-titled debut EP is set to release September 6, 2019.
