Biographie
Jazmine Sullivan released her debut album Fearless in 2008, a #1 album on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart that garnered 7 Grammy Awards nominations including Best R&B Album and Best New Artist. From her first single “Need U Bad,” Sullivan demonstrated an innate ability to write songs that perfectly capture the stories of so many women, especially Black women. Following a string of nominations over the years for her albums Love Me Back (2010) and Reality Show (2012), in 2022 Sullivan took home her first Grammy Award for Best R&B Album for Heaux Tales - the project that debuted at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart and allowed us to share in her journey to self-love. The project’s RIAA-certified Platinum single, “Pick Up Your Feelings,” also won a Grammy for Best R&B Song. That same year, Jazmine won 3 NAACP Image Awards: Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Album (Heaux Tales) and Outstanding Soul/R&B Song (“Pick Up Your Feelings”), plus a BET Award for Best Female R&B Artist. In 2021, Sullivan collected a BET Award for Album of the Year, plus two Soul Train Music Awards for Best Album/Mixtape and Best R&B/Soul Female Artist. After the year-long impact of Heaux Tales, Sullivan released Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe The collective success of the project awarded her a spot on the 2022 TIME100 list, the coveted annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world recognizing their impact, innovation, and achievement.
